October 6, 2019 - Youthful, but drinking very well right now. Great balance, lovely palate with bright fruit, some tar, lovely earth and herb note. Melting tannin. An excellent wine that might improve even further with age, really well done in this vintage.

July 10, 2019 - Best barolo of the night. Unreal. On the darker side, nose showing berries, earth, mushrooms. Palate is silky smooth, strangely approachable (though it was open for more than 24Hr), long finish, complex nose. in a great spot now.

April 14, 2019 - Comparative Tasting of B. Mascarello Barolo and G. Mascarello Barolo Monprivato (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Mixed red fruit and pine needles. Baked quality with some spice. Compared to the 2013, moderately round, lusher feel, and some tar on the attack. Dark red/black fruit, brown spices, ripely tannic finish mixed with soil, and good acidity, although nowhere near the level in the younger wine. Rising tar at the end as it warms. Much more pliant and drinkable now than the 2013, in fact surprisingly close to its earliest approachability.

December 23, 2018 - Vibrant red fruit, with a nice mid-weight on the palate. Long acidity and a touch of tannins on finish. Give it 5-6 years to start developing more complexity if you can, though pleasurable with food now.

November 19, 2018 - Rose petals, cherries, red fruit, leather and a hint of smoke on the intriguing nose. Grippy, dusty tannins that coat the mouth with underlying flavors of red cherries, ripe raspberries, and blood orange. Medium+ acidity. Long finish. Feels super young and requires at least 5-10 years IMO... Very promising! 94+
