September 16, 2020 - 93 points, excellent with still some upside. Poured from magnum and was a real crowd pleaser. Potential for 94 points I think. Wait another 3 years.

July 3, 2020 - 4 hour slow ox. Just stunning. Everything you want in a Brunello reaching its peak.

June 22, 2020 - Dark ruby color turning violet at the rim with a reflective edge. The nose gives off violet flowers, smoke, ripe dark berries and evident oaky vanilla. The palate is very sumptuous and savory with bright acidity, earthiness featuring ripe blueberry, black tea, balsamic sauce, cowhide leather, and graphite. Still in its youth but drinking wonderfully now that all aspects are in great balance. This could develop further nuances later on as it ages, but such a crowd pleaser right now. Finishes long and mentholated with dusty tannins that I’d expect to get silkier down the road. Drink now until 2035.

    May 24, 2020 - Très grosse matière. Trop jeune à attendre 3 à 5 ans de plus

April 18, 2020 - First bottle from an OC. Pnp a glass and then poured the bottle into a decanter. Pianrosso sits between the Annata and Reserva as it spends an extra year in barrel. This shows, as unlike many of the 2010 Annata’s the wine does not seem ready yet and I would put it aside for another 2-3. What also shows in the style of the wine, is that Ciacci is located at fairly low altitude in the Southern cluster in Montalcino and you get a very savory but dark fruited wine with a touch of tar and medicinal notes. A very good and complex Brunello for sure, with medium and still somewhat drying tannins which should further soften with a few more years in bottle, but I prefer the brighter and more red fruited style of Brunello. As much as I loved the 2001 Ciacci Riserva, I don’t think I will be seeking out Ciacci in the warmer vintages like 2015/2016 anymore.
