June 15, 2019 - Tough to grade. I suspect this may have for shut down a bit; certainly MUCH less open than the first bottle from 10 months ago. Even after being double decanted before being taken to dinner with pasta, this was initially quite closed before finally starting to open up toward the end of dinner. I'll try to hold off on the next bottle for another year or so, but the next one will get a minimum of 2 hours in the decanter. This will be a great wine, but it's not yet time.

May 29, 2019 - Mixed WTDS at Ciao Bella (Ciao Bella, Mpls): Dark red color. Drank a glass over an hour. This was really nice. Red fruits and crushed flowers and spices on the nose. The palate is really driven and has perfect balance of dark red fruits and this almost gritty, gravelly minerality, very long finish and very polished tannins. One of my favorites on the night. 93+pts.

May 29, 2019 - Well, this isn't a 100pt wine for me, at least not yet. And, I understand the critics are talking about it being 100pts at maturity. For me right now its a nicely balanced old school style BdM squarely in my wheelhouse that is drinking very well but still has miles to go in the complexity dept. Enjoyed very much but expected a bit more already:) I've been pretty good about ignoring scores but I took a flyer at this one for $90 recently and slightly overpaid based on the current experience. 93+ I Gave this a 30 minute+ decant and slow-oxed in blt for an addl 2-1/2 hours before leaving for Ciao Bella. Removed cork again at venue 45 minutes prior to drinking.
