September 4, 2022 - A real surprise of the day for me. I haven't had a lot of these wines but this was drinking very nicely. Tons of acid and very bright and almost no indication that there's already been 17 years. This wine was lovely. Would happily drink more of these.

August 12, 2021 - The 2005 Tyrrells semillon was just superb, with age just starting to make its mark with waxy, honey, toasty flavours over lemons and minerals. Another wine that could easy go another 10 to 20 years. So much length.

April 25, 2021 - Screwcap, 11.2% alc. Pale green-gold. Dissolved CO2; bubbles in the glass.

Deep nose with fruit tingles, light smoky lanolin and toast, passionfruit, and sulphur. With air, the nose really comes alive.

Some acidic bite on the palate, but it is supported by a depth of fresh fruit flavour. Great length marks this as something special. Not shrill at all, despite the acid. In fact, it almost has a sweet-fruited profile.

Opinion: Wonderful. So complex and engaging. Hard to resist taking another sniff. Drink any time over the next decade.

April 6, 2021 - I’m yet to have a bad vat 1, but I’ve certainly had better than this one. Light straw colour belies the 16 years of bottle age. A pleasant drink, but seems to be developing at a snails pace. I would have guessed a much younger wine. Roll dice on another 5 years would be my tip.

February 4, 2020 - brief notes, tiny pour

    N....very little

T....good concentration, nice oily texture, grapefruit, long flavours, nice mouth-feel, ends almost dry.

Rec RP £60.00.....Hmmm, not worth that. Feels £30
