February 26, 2019 - Italian Wine Scholar Class at the Texas Wine School. Tasted from a .375 bottle. This is a blend of 85% Corvina, 10% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta, made by passing Valpolicella over the marc of Amarone. The wine was aged for 18 months in Slavonian 500 lt. oak casks and barrels. Medium (+) ruby-garnet in color, with a clean, complex nose of overripe black cherry, dried black plum, dried red currant, blueberry, dark chocolate, espresso, Asian spices (cardamon) and sweet baking spices. The palate is dry, but very fruit forward, with a smooth, velvety mouth feel, medium tannins, medium to medium (+) alcohol (actually high at 14%) and medium (+) acidity. This "baby Amarone" is medium (+) to full-bodied, with medium (+) flavor intensity and a long and persistent, sweet-and-savory, balsamic finish. It is still drinking well but is at its peak or maybe slightly past. Time to drink up, particularly if you are trying this from a smaller format bottle. Tasted again on 9/10/19, with consistent results.

February 23, 2019 - Great wine: very intense & concentrated. Dark fruit, nice touch of oak, well matured. Bold in the way I like it.

December 22, 2018 - Great value. Oak and dark fruit on the nose. The pallet shows some oak, bitter sweet red and black cherries that are very seductive, and grippy tannins. Would go great with Hungarian salami and smoked cheese.
