Community Tasting Notes 5

December 26, 2019 - Still a bit more austere than I like to drink my Barolo. It's been 19 years and the beast is still untamed. I know the estate doesn't use barrique but it feels as if the fruit is starting to be covered up by the oak, which worries me a bit. I have doubts this will get any better with time. It may have been better to drink up a few years ago and decant. I'd be curious to read a note five years from now as this was my only bottle.

February 24, 2013 - Very nice, enjoyed it a lot. In a bit difficult stage, loosing all the primary feeling. But might have to wait another 10 years to really build up the secondary. not shure if it will be better, only different?
Dark sweet/sour cherries , broad aiming tannin grip getting finer but definitely strongly present.
buy more? yes but probably younger vintages.

August 21, 2011 - Heat damaged. Must have been stored improperly before I cellared it.

February 19, 2011 - 4 hour decant. Nose is very typical for Barolo. Nice balance, 30 sec finish. After time in the glass, the tannins started overpowering the fruit. I'll wait a few more years for the rest.

September 25, 2007 - David Bowler Fall 2007 Portfolio Tasting (NYC): Medium ruby with bricking at rim. Intense nose of earth, oak and tart red fruits. Huge tannins on the palate, full on the mid to finish, with elements of sweet tobacco and focused cherry. This needs serious time.
