December 24, 2018 - Decanted for 1.5h. Initially, some significant VA which mostly blew off. Then aromas of roasted game meats, tart plums, earth, olives, herbs. Palate flavors follows the aromas with the addition of blackberries and moderate tannins on the midpalate. Excellent acids with mid-full weight body. Went nicely with a pan-seared ribeye. No rush to open the next bottle.

September 5, 2017 - The other notes below must have been faulty bottles. This is full, powerful, complex wine just entering it's prime drinking window. Much more dense and less floral than the Du Plessy indeed, but brooding and full of earthy notes that only show with an hour in the pot.
