December 29, 2021 - Garnet in the glass, very savoury umami nose: ripe blackberry, mushroom and dried prune with a strong backbone of leather and game/butcher’s block. Violets and Xmas spice. On the palate, lively acid with just a touch of smooth tannin to hold it together (perhaps best to drink up?). Medium bodied juicy palate, velvety and smooth, fig, blackberry and prune with sweet spice and a savoury finish. Maybe a touch of chilli at the end? Or is it the alcohol heat? Beautiful with food as well.

July 10, 2020 - Clear pale garnet in the glass. Enticing nose (assault on the senses): very rich and spicy, pepper, violets, smoke, blackberry, prune, sweet stewed and dried fruit (Xmas? Dried fruit compote), a bit medicinal, leather and animal. Stick kicking after 9 years with the acid on the palate, medium tannin, blackberry, dried fruit, herbs. Savoury heat on the finish! VGV.

March 15, 2020 - Medium ruby going on garnet in the glass. Intense, developed nose of stewed black forest fruit, prunes, cloves (Xmas compote?), strong parma violets , leaf mould, earth a touch of leather. Definitely showing maturity. On the palate, surprisingly holding its acid with juicy blackberry, violets, a touch of pepper. The tannins are spectacular - mellow and weathered by time, lifted by the heat from the alcohol at the end of the finish. Really delightful and VGV.

March 6, 2020 - Really nice - still lots of forest fruit, but in a mellow, seductive and laid-back fashion. Maybe just a touch of Brett to add interest. Thick, dark, Marmitey finish, with a smudge of tannin for structure. Lip-smacking, food-friendly and moreish.

October 24, 2019 - In tegenstelling tot vorige fles die vlak en te mollig ( over de top ) overkwam was deze wel prima. Mooi rijp, perfect op dronk maar niet versleten.
