August 3, 2019 - First time for this wine. Dark in color. Chocolate and cedar on the nose. Interesting palate of chocolate, cedar, tobacco and plum. Not as much fruit as I usually like, but I liked the palate a lot. Still a bit of tannin. Should be even better in a few years.

July 29, 2019 - Tasted at a friend's house, from a 375 ml. You can tell it was a hot year- ripe and rich, sweet red/purple fruit, difficult to peg as "old world." Still present tannin, a little fuzzy but certainly not overly tannic. Surprisingly hot, but the fruit still took center stage, especially with sweet palate. The mix of pure reddish fruit, almost syrupy, with the deep chocolatey baking spice basically makes this into VERY vivid cherry cordial. So ripe that I got a banana note on nose! Lovely, and more on the side of jubilant/fun than highly complex.

July 27, 2019 - Much better than the first bottle, two years ago. Decanted almost 1½ hours at this point. It does need more air time (3-4 hrs.), but this bottle does seem more open for bizz than that earlier bottle. Tannins are rounding out, but this could still soften some more with bottle age. Red fruits (wild strawberry aromas), with some vanilla, and sort of an elderberry aspect. Good mid-palate and finish (long). I can definitely add a point (90) to my previous score, but think that this wine can eventually hit 92-93 in a few years. With 10 more bottles, I can continue to follow.

June 27, 2019 - Decanted 1.5 hrs. Great balance of smooth but old world. Good body and intensity of flavors. Can drink now or hold.

June 22, 2019 - Decanted for 30 minutes before serving - should really have been 3+ hours. In the glass, very dark opaque red, nearly black. On the nose, muted currants and oak. On the palate, initially holding back - very little fruit, perhaps a hint of cedar. As the evening progressed, this began to show signs of life, with currants, cedar, tobacco, and plums all making appearance. The last glass was the best, and even then it was still getting better. Give this a few more years before opening one...
