July 3, 2020 - Very '04 on the nose, with some wild herbs and tobacco. As it breathes you get some very pleasant Asian spice notes and it has sweet and pretty red and black fruits. There's weight without heaviness and a fine finish with good cut. It is by no means one of the great Rousseau Chambertins, but it is very tasty and a pleasure to drink.

    May 16, 2019 - Upon opening:
Animalistic nose, pepper, bacon, smoke, tartar, rosehip, delicate sweet tones, cucumber.
Lively acidity on the palate, pepper, smoked bacon, strong tannins, very robust. Cherry, rosehip.
    Dry, long finish.
    98/100

    90 mins later:
Fruit on the nose, plums, more powerful, the animal side has worn off, bitter roast coffee.
Still strong tannins, but the acidity has faded a bit. Full and fatty, lots of ripe stone fruits.
Finishes with acidity, tannins, and soft fruit.
    97.5/100

January 11, 2019 - This was even prettier than the last bottle.

July 22, 2017 - It's difficult to approach such an esteemed wine without bias, but in this vintage I don't think Rousseau hit it out of the park. Maybe in time this will come together nicely as some other lesser vintages have done so. Today, this struck me as a good but not great wine, a bit heavy on the cherry note sort of monotone. Always an honor to drink a Rousseau Chambertin, though this vintage is a pass for me.

January 14, 2017 - POB Gala dinner: Green on the nose. Palate has a bit of wood with unripe grapes. A let down for a rousseau chambertin. Difficult vintage for him
