December 8, 2012 - full bodied lots of tannin

August 20, 2010 - Very dark blackish in color with aromas of dried roses, blackberries, red spice, blueberries, hippy incense, nice! Full body with defined acidity and tannins. Bone dry, mouth parching rustic Tuscan goodness with a pinch of coffee bean and crushed rock. A nice wine indeed. Still got some life left in 'er.

September 27, 2009 - some intial barn and dirt funk that quickly blew off. Pretty tight, strong core bordeaux blend flavors. Definite old world style, pick cafefully what you drink with or it will overwhelm. Actually was drinking best after 5 hours open. Hold a bit longer or drink now.

June 14, 2009 - Magnum format. Drank with GF and both our parents for their big meet and greet at trattoria alla costiera in queen village. Food was good, wine was perhaps slightly better. Didn't take specific notes, what with the occasion and all, but I didn't detect nearly the animal and manure funk that others got. I think these flavors have blown off a bit. I did notice that it was highly tannic and there was a great deal of sediment. Nice acidity which was primary at the beginning, but subsided later to reveal an interesting combo of nice cabernet dark fruits and sangiovese red fruits. This certainly could have used a decant, but alas BYOB's in Philly do not provide such services.

November 12, 2008 - This wine seems to be improving. While 30 minutes helped to open it up, it was pretty well ready to go on open. A moderately big wine, animal, cherry, earth, big tannin profile. The tannins, seem to be subsiding and a nice medium long length finish is beginning to develop. Unlike my previous tasting, this bottle held together and improved over 4 hours. I'm liking it more than before.
