March 27, 2024 - First bottle of a case, bought EP and properly stored. Gave this a long decant. Pure fruit, quite light but persistent. High acidity on finish. Somehow I doubt this will improve.

March 17, 2024 - Heater week; 3/8/2024-3/17/2024 (Chicago, IL): A little bit too light and missing midpalate weight here, in the context of many of the other 2013s tonight. Red fruited, and a pleasant spice note to the nose.

November 4, 2023 - Pulled the cork 90 mins before drinking but no decant. Truly lovely aromatics, with deep dark fruit and shows real elegance and class, and also real complexity, with layers of musk and soil and a licorice-like darkness. It’s an energetic and lifted nose, too. On the nose alone this is almost worth the price of admission. The palate falls short, however. The flavors are nice, albeit not showing complexity near the level of the nose. But there is something odd - it’s almost like it’s been acidified, as there is a sour patch kid aspect to it. The tannins feel dry and raspy in the finish, too. It’s pleasing wine but there is a vast qualitative difference between the nose and the palate.

August 16, 2023 - This was really really good. My style of cote royie. Had good fruit but no solar component. Some feral notes but not overwhelming. I got a lot of olives and tapenade going on here in a way that was delicious

July 15, 2023 - Perhaps slightly more open than my last note 4 years ago, but this is still nowhere near ready. That said, there's obviously a great wine in there with some patience.
