Community Tasting Notes 17

December 31, 2023 - No notes taken. The highlight is the beautiful harmony and great, Bordeaux-esque structure and stature, a reflection of the vintage. Not too ripe or overwhelming with fine dark fruit at the core and some minerality wrapped around it, this is a bit simole at this stage but once the tertiary aromas will kick-in this could climb a few points. I would wait another decade.

Decanting: 1-2 hours in the decanter should be sufficient.

March 3, 2023 - PNP. Dark red with slight fading at rim. Plums and cherries on the nose. Plush fruit, cherries, plums, anise, sweet tobacco. Fine tannins, lovely acidity, great balance. No heat at all (14.4% ABV). Finishes long and lovely, subtle dark fruit. Soft and elegant. In a great place. Drink over the next 5 years.

April 27, 2022 - PNP and enjoyed over a long 3h lunch. Beautiful fruity and mineral nose, more cherries and sweet fruit on the palate, balanced with mineral. Smooth and silky. This paired well with very spicy sushi rolls. I have spent a long time staring at this bottle in the cellar, glad I finally had an occasion to trot this out for a Napa wine lover, who was delighted and absconded with the empty hand signed bottle from the Mondavis.

October 16, 2021 - Pulled this from the cellar after a couple of Prichard Hill bottlings from Nine Suns & Brand. At PNP this was ready to go and was best on day one. A little left on day two showed a lot of oxidation. Trying to recall the wine maker from the earlier vintages... TRB?

September 12, 2020 - PNP-Consumed next to a 2012 Aloft. This bottle was much better than the last. Tannins are integrated and acids are minimal. Medium body and finish.
