January 7, 2020 - With a horizontal tasting of 3 left bank 1982s, this blew even the Gruaud Larose out of the water. This was a perfect bottle, and was accessible with just a splash decant. It is old school mature Bordeaux at its best, displaying warm aromas of dark fruits and leather. Depth and balance were flawless and the wine was showing full secondary and tertiary notes. The finish was lengthy and 45+ seconds. This seems to be one the more consistent wines from the year and it seems to have a structure to allow it to have another 5 years or more at its best. 97+

    November 23, 2019 - Best bottle (@Private location): Glass: Josephinenhütte White/Universal
Popped and poured. Clear, deep tawny-garnet color. Clean, medium+ intense rather developing nose with lots of red fruit, some barn, hints of tobacco and espresso. Astonishingly young, but really beautiful.
On the palate dense, with great tension. Medium+, ripe and round tannin, medium+, perfect integrated acidity. Wonderful red fruit, herbs, soil, truffle. Very long and complex finish. BDX at its peak and best! What a pleasure! 94-95

November 2, 2019 - Far and away the finest bottle of the 1982 Grand-Puy-Lacoste that I have ever experienced. The fill was into the neck and the cork was sound; opened about an hour before service. Medium garnet, with intoxicating and complex aromas of dried black fruits, black truffle, cigar box, leather, and hints of roasted fennel and earth. Medium bodied, with a velvety and chewy texture, great concentration, an amazing sense of expansiveness, and incredible depth. Long finish, with good vigor and focus. I usually prefer the 1990 Grand-Puy-Lacoste, but with these bottles and on this night, the 1982 stole the show!

October 19, 2019 - Once again this was a flawless bottle, and it seems that the estate is holding up to the bottle variance plaguing other wines from the year. It is essentially a classic old school Bordeaux, with blackberry, old leather and earth dominating the nose and palate. It is fully displaying secondary and tertiary notes, and is at absolute full maturity. It is a sublime experience, unique to fully mature Bordeaux, but taking a step back, it does not quite match the complexity on the palate of the truly exceptional. Everything seems to be a lottery with 1982 at present, but I do think this has the structure to stay at this level for the next decade or more.

August 22, 2019 - I have tried a lot of top 82 Bordeaux, especially in the past 2 years. The 82 GPL is probably the most compelling wine in terms of QPR. It was popped and poured into a decanter to serve upon arrival. Incredibly youthful and vibrant with cedarwood, tobacco, earth, sweet dark and herbs. The mid to back palate attack were precisely punchy yet seamless. The kind of volume in this wine is also unprecedented in the other GPL I tried (have not tried '61). Not a lot of 82s are holding up as good as this.
