March 3, 2020 - Great quality but far too astringent on the finish which seems to be a known fault with this producer on very old vintages

October 19, 2019 - Opened a bottle after an evening of other wines. This one got shuffled back to the back of the cabinet. Popped and poured.
Nice enough purple color, with a bit of bricking around the edge, though not as much as I might have expected. In the nose, the first impression was wet cardboard. I think this bottle had a bit of TCA taint. But it was subtle. Strangely, unlike most cases if TCA it didn’t get worse as we drank it over a couple of hours, so I’m a bit reticent to place all shortcomings on TCA. Perhaps there wasn’t TCA, but something else.
It still showed some nice, but compromised fruit. Medium body with a predominance of red fruits, most notably sour cherries, with a hint if talc and smoke. A bit of Gevrey earthiness, without tipping over into animale. Not particularly complex at this point. The smell of wet cardboard lessened, but never completely went away. It seemed to be drying palate, as well as having the fruits bit suppressed. But you can tell there was a decent wine there before. 86 points, for this bottle, and it still can be marginally enjoyed. Drink up. -

February 16, 2013 - Still alive but fading fast. First impressions are of smoky cherries and cola spices, with cherry compote anise and some green weediness that fades quickly. A few moments of air in the glass, and the fruit begins to disappear, leaving a whisper of tart cherry and berry notes. On the palate, the fruit has blended into gentle earthiness, with hints of leathery dried fruit that are struggling to reach out. Elegant, but just over the hill. Dugat's vineyards are just above the village of Gevrey - this bottle was purchased in Beaune in 2003. If only I had drank it a couple of years ago...

November 4, 2012 - Dark ruby. Nose of dark fruit, mushroom and earth. Nice balance with a mineral inflected finish. The tannic structure is very much here but softer. An over performing wine, which we caught in a sweet spot. Suspect it could have gone a few years longer .

February 15, 2012 - Drank over Valentines dinner. A nice wine, albeit simple. Nice earthiness and resolved acidity. Nice minerality, texture, and red fruit.
