April 15, 2024 - Light ruby. Anise and dark fruit aromas. Light to medium weight. Really attractive juxtaposition of sour cherry and some underlying sweetness backed by wonderful acidity, soil, and salinity. Bracing and immensely satisfying.

    January 28, 2024 - Tasted over 2 hrs and day 2
    -nearly semi-translucent med red violet
    -gentle cherry gamay
-med acidity, med weight silky texture diffuse faded red fruit embedded in a soft wave of light earthy minerality and med tannins; bretty on day 2
-drinking well now and while most of the primary fruit is gone still has some tannins to shed and no overt mature notes so maybe a few more years will make it even more interesting

December 10, 2023 - A lovely older Morgon. While fruit is beginning to fade a bit and the finish just slightly dry, the nose and attack arr still very inviting. Past it apex, still a nice drink. One to go and will not be waiting.

December 10, 2023 - Lovely nose but I preferred this younger. Clean bottle out of magnum but just didn’t produce any fireworks and paled against some of the Burgundies on the table.

July 6, 2023 - Definitely a hight quality Beaujolais. Good acidity, plenty of cherry, strawberry and raspberry notes. Despite its age, it still tastes young with a little funk. I would revisit in a couple of years and see.

May 29, 2023 - Served blind. Pretty easily identifiable as an aged gamay. It was rustic and with some tertiary material. One of the better examples within this category that I’ve tasted. Preferred it to the 2011 had a couple years ago if I’m remembering well.

March 22, 2023 - Garnet center with watery edge. Blackberry and anise on the nose. Typical Gamay lighter weight with that extra layer of flesh and feel that Foillard often possesses. Discretely ripe black and red fruit with an earthy base, herbs, tart acidity, and a lovely citrus note. Drinking very well at age 10 and better than a bottle 2 years ago that was affected by brett. As for 2013 red Burgundy, this vintage is probably underrated for this region.

February 16, 2023 - Not every bottle of Foillard is fresh and clean obviously, as can be seen here and as shown by my experiences as well. A recent Corcelette 2013 was no fun. But this bottle was great! Velvet like but still fresh, feeling young and refreshing despite a respectable age. Strawberry, cherry, violet and granite. A pinch of baking powder an a bit pf beet root. Feels more like a five year old wine than its actual age.

Kept in a controlled climate since purchase.

December 26, 2022 - Sadly quite brett affected.
On decanting it was quite horsey. Most of that blew off but the palate was really scalloped with an initial attack of fruit that quickly subsides, and a lingering sharp acid without any fruit power to balance it.
Has a shadow of the nice mellow cherry fruit that I know this wine can deliver. I'd love to try an aged bottle one day but preferably without the brett characters which seem to randomly affect bottles.

December 16, 2022 - In perfect spot. Bright, touch funky, but fully resolved and Morgon with a mineral earthy quality. Case drunk at party and consistent across all bottles. Enjoy now
