January 4, 2024 - Lovely, classic Foillard nose. Great acidity with crushed cherries, red berries, and pomegranate. Nice finish. Amazing Beaujolais!
April 20, 2023 - Beautiful high pitched complex nose with cranberry, orange peel, and a good dose of both floral and earthiness. Elegant, light mouthfeel. Long, long finish with plenty of green tea tannins, plus some darker notes in the background and abundant acidity. Outstanding!
October 5, 2022 - Hmm, this was a bit thin, acidic, funky and had that gamay bitterness I get some times from the grape. Probably a less than stellar bottle, despite being kept in regulated climate since purchase.
July 3, 2022 - July 4 Weekend Wines with Buds (Washington, DC): Best showing yet. Such cool savory tones on the nose (leather, soy, animal hide, pepper, grilled herbs, violet petals) but there's still fresh red fruit, and the combination is inviting and interesting. Spicy and fresh on the palate with integrated tannins and lively acidity, and the raspberry and strawberry fruit have aged nicely. Loving the crunchy, dusty feel, and the complexities of tar, violets, pepper, leather and earth. Wish I had more.
March 27, 2022 - Don't love the genre, but this wine delivers as an elegant and not overtly natural Gamay with more purity and florals than funk. Holding nicely and suspect this has 5-10 years
February 6, 2022 - High-toned candied fruit - raspberry - sunshine - fun - nice acidity, light - no tannins but still fun - long finish.
August 30, 2021 - Somehow pure raspberry fruit coexists with high-grade funk in a way that is both delicious and interesting. Drinking well now.
March 25, 2021 - This has together nicely, I don’t think you can expect more from this bottling. Floral expressive nose of violets? and rose. Palate is smooth, very pure cherry notes with strong saline and chalk undertones with hints of black pepper. Finishes with stronger pepper, spice, and chalk notes. In a great place right now.
July 31, 2020 - This is fantastic. I was concerned that it might be on the downhill side, given it is 7 years old. However, I would say this wine is at its apogee. There is a fantastic perfume of crushed ripe strawberries and floral notes. Soft red fruits of strawberries and raspberries coat the palate, followed by a spicy finish of allspice and clove. Magnificent
January 29, 2020 - Bright, zesty, spicy, peppery, floral. I like the musky, earthy tones. This was firing quite well but still has the structure to age, although I like where it's at.
