September 7, 2023 - PnP but better after 15 minutes of air. An attractive dark purple in the glass. A really smooth, medium plus bodied wine with a mix of dark red, blue and black fruits, some spice, nicely balancing acidity and a touch of tannins on the finish. This wine should continue to delight for some years to come but seems to be in an excellent place right now.
February 19, 2023 - Generally I've been disappointed in Martinelli's Syrahs. But I enjoyed this one. My last bottle of this vintage.
December 5, 2021 - Excellent Syrah aging well w/characteristic Syrah notes. Wish we had more of this delicious 2012 Syrah.
April 15, 2021 - Licorice, dark blackberries, delightfully delicious.
January 19, 2020 - Just an OK Syrah. But, definitely better than the 2011 Lolita Ranch in side by side tasting today. Martinelli makes some fabulous wines but this Syrah is just good, not fabulous.
October 13, 2019 - Deep garnet color with a bouquet and flavor of plums, cherries, cotton candy, and earth. Very focused flavors leaving an elegant impression with good balance and depth. Lovely wine and a wow. Martinelli makes some very good Syrah wines which is not appreciated by enough people.
October 10, 2019 - Singing..fruit at the front and classic savory Syrah notes secondary..alcohol integrated and subdued
August 31, 2018 - Tannins were smooth, served at 62 degrees so no heat.15.0% ABV. Beautiful fruit, clearly in its prime.
August 25, 2018 - A little bit of biting heat and some spice swirl around the red-purple core fruit. Clamped and linear in its current state. Some swirling in the glass helped, but it was showing some youthful tension that shortened the finish a bit. Hold for at least another year.
May 5, 2018 - a little hot for me at 15% alcohol
but went well with steaks on the grill
