August 29, 2023 - Tuesday (Chicago, IL): I'm actually surprised at the dearth of notes on this wine, and the mere 32 bottles recorded as of right now. Though maybe if memory serves, 2013 Morey was a short crop. Anyway, this was absolutely brilliant. I loved the way the red fruit was in full display, with an exuberant blend of Morey spice as well. The Lignier opulence balances nicely with the high-acid red-fruited bent of the vintage, yielding a gorgeously proportioned bottle of red Burgundy. I'll be on the lookout for some.

March 5, 2023 - Initially a bit closed, but then opened up nicely in the glass. Nose of dark fruit with lots of herbs and some underbrush without being rustic. Good mid body weight and structure. Medium+ finish.

November 29, 2020 - Lignier's Morey St Denis 1er VV is exuberant and beautiful tonight presenting a nose of crushed cranberry, black tea, and menthol. Silkily textured with bright acidity and pure, tart red fruit. Just enter its drinking window. Very good.

August 1, 2019 - Really lush and giving on opening. Dark fruited rich nose with wet soil and crisp dark berry fruit at the tail end. Very concentrated and rich, with dark blue and black fruits and a lovely sweetness without being cloying. Some baking spice and limited earthy minerals on the palate, but obviously still quite primary overall. With more air, a more structural core begins to emerge, which is a good thing as it was a bit lacking of that on opening for my taste. Finishes long and impressive, excellent material and would look forward to tasting this again after some time. If I were to nitpick I would say this lacks a touch of freshness...but that’s pushing it. Not profound, but really good.
