July 9, 2010 - The nose on this is a bit light, really its only weak point, as the palate shows deep, intense, flavorful fruit, some stoniness, and a finish that keeps going for tens of seconds. The trademark Peay intensity and balance while staying within the bounds of restrained elegance is on full display here. Really lovely wine, still very youthful.
Wow, after an hour or so, and at closer to room temp this is just explosive, the depth, and layers of complexity are incredible, and finish just goes on and on.
February 6, 2010 - Not really in a good spot right now, or perhaps an off bottle
October 4, 2009 - Just delicious. LEmon, spice, the barest hint of mascarpone quickly blew off. Almost perfect acidity. 90pts.
May 18, 2009 - Lemon and orange peel, nice bright apple and a garden herb (sweet, not savory) note with faint gardenia. Amazing balance. 90pts.
April 2, 2009 - So good. Drank too fast to take proper notes. Just amazing. 90pts.
March 24, 2009 - Drinking very well right now. Beautiful balance with ample acidity. Lovely sweet lemon palate with plent of additional complexity. I will drink my remaining three before the end of summer...if they last that long!
January 3, 2009 - Still showing very nicely - a full round wine that has a bit of spice, but not screaming viognier. Put on a bit of weight since the last bottle. 91-92 pts.
November 16, 2008 - Crisp acidity, rich mouthfeel. Tropical fruit flavors followed by a medium finish. Very refreshing.
November 15, 2008 - The time to drink these (imo) is now. The wine has lost a great deal of its fruit and some oaky characteristics are hinting they may overtake the wine soon (next 1 to 2 years) if this evolutionary track continues. Mind you, the wine is very good now. It has a soft perfume in the mouth and is walking a tight-rope with acid and creaminess. This bottle came right off the delivery truck & into the glass. The bottle was sourced from an auction house. Any previous notes by me were on bottles sourced directly from the winery.
June 30, 2008 - Light floral, slightly chalky nose with good spice overtones. The mouth is slightly tart but otherwise well balanced, with much more of a floral voice that the nose. The mouth also has ample citrus and white tropical notes, though I find more of the same in the RM blend. The length seems short compared to other notable whites - including Roussanne blends, but long compared to other notable Viogniers. I really liked this bottle, but I have to admit that I wonder if it wouldn't have been better last year when the fruit was more luciously overt.
