October 7, 2023 - Drinks pretty well on opening and develops nicely in the glass, good balance , should develop but it’s good now
September 24, 2023 - Even at twelve years, this still requires a 45-minute decant; lots of dressed up gloppy oak and alcohol, which needs some air to settle down. Displays a medium garnet color, and a full body. Opens with black cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, red licorice, pine forest, and wood spice. Chewy tannin is still notable with medium acidity. Finishes big. Enjoyed with stacked cheese ravioli and pork bolognese sauce. Drink with decanting, or hold through 2030.
September 11, 2023 - Opening with dark fruit notes, mature and with a hint of balsamic notes. Secondary notes emerging strongly.
In the mouth the first impression is velvet, quite soft, tannins fully integrated and acidity on the low side. Medium finish.
Not very complex but well made on asifficult vintage.
Drink now, I don't think that waiting for an evolution of the tertiary notes will compensate the mouth which is past peak due to the (lack of) acidity of the vintage.
March 5, 2023 - Heady nose of pine forest floor, ripe cherries, rosemary and pressed flowers. Med-full bodied and lightly tannic with a slightly washed-out palate, this is a fine tipple but not a grand Barolo. Fully mature, this should be consumed soon 90
February 8, 2023 - The 2011s are supposed to be the wines to drink while your 2010s are making old bones, but my experience so far has been that I have either rushed them or they are just a tad shut down. This had pretty cherries, roses, not a ton of tannin, sprightly acid to keep the palate fresh, but it hasn't developed a lot yet. Agree that it is still about the fruit, waiting for some depth and complexity to show out. I've got another, and a few other crus from this label, so we'll see where it goes from here.
January 21, 2023 - Decanted for a couple of hours, good aromatics, still mainly about the fruit, easy going tannins and great to drink with food.
June 5, 2022 - Medium body, lovely aromatics, slightly ripe and with some darker fruits. Plenty of energy and acidity on the palate with plenty of ripe dark cherry fruit, still some fine grained tannins, approachable now but best with food, for the medium term
August 29, 2021 - This wine definitely need a bit of a decant before drinking. I opened it about 30-45 mins before dinner, and it was not enough time. At first it was a bit tannic and the presence of alcohol was noticeable, but the second half of the bottle was just right with the tannins settling down into a nice round experience. With the wine smoothing out and the alcohol more integrated, it was a pleasant experience, allowing the fruit to come out. A decent bottle.
May 6, 2021 - Drinking very well with several more good years of enjoyment ahead.
