August 28, 2022 - Drank with Chaele and John with chicken and carrot. Fantastic, excellent length and well developed hints of leather and earth. Still has some fruit but I wouldn’t say fruit driven at this point. Tanins are soft and well integrated but still clean the palate with food. An outstanding bottle sent from Vinic

December 24, 2013 - Brambly, herby nose. Dark fruit -- less than earlier in its life, I'd guess -- and anise on the palate. If you're holding, I'd drink this now, though. I really like what these folks are doing.

May 6, 2009 - Time has served this well. It's a nice drinking wine. I enjoyed this but was surprised that it seemed to have toned down a bit from the last bottle. I'll try the rest tonight and see if I have similar notes.

November 30, 2008 - Very impressive considering the reasonable price. Cool climate elegance. White pepper and a bit of spice. Great food wine.

October 12, 2008 - I opened the bottle and poured a glass and let them sit for about two hours. The cork was pitch black. Nose was intense giving off strong plumb and blackberry. The taste started a bit hot for me but that dissipated as I finished off the first glass. A little mustiness and heavy fruit. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it at first. By my second fill (small glasses) it was getting better and better. By my last glass I realized I went from being so so about the wine to very pleased. I have one bottle remaining so I'll wait a year and see how it changes. Two days later - This held up real nice. Still had some heat for half a glass, but overall I really liked it.(The alc is 15.2). Any hints of mustiness were gone and the fruit was all that was left. I'd buy again - 91+

October 9, 2008 - Purple ink body with lots of dark fruit on the nose—blueberry and blackberry with undertones of tobacco, funk, and anise. Coats the tongue with plumminess and is a little hot with balance, depth, and a nice long followthrough that makes me feel like I may drink dinner tonight.

March 21, 2008 - This is a special wine with a deep intensity in both the nose and the taste. Strong flavors of concentrated pomegranate, vanilla, clove spice, tobacco. The color is almost black it is so deep and concentrated. This wine is a little hot but it adds something to the profile which is more of a help than a hindrance. Beautiful central CA example of syrah.

April 6, 2007 - Deep, dark purple - loads of berries, lasting velvety taste. Gained flavors after being decanted for an hour or so

January 19, 2007 - Beautiful syrah...after a 2 hour decant, gorgeous nose of blueberries, blackberries, vanilla and spice with a little heat that will probably dissipate with a little more air. Dense flavor concentration of lush blueberry pie with a long intense finish. If the wine was more velvetty it would be rated higher. Definitely looking for more at $28...
