February 7, 2024 - Excellent winemaking. Consistent with the notes below. You cannot feel the ABV 15%.
September 24, 2022 - This is in a great place. Classic wild Sagrantino profile on the nose, with a strawberry sweetness to it. The palate is impeccably balanced; the acid deficit I noted more than 7 years ago nonexistent. Everything one could want from a young-vines Sagrantino. I’ll enjoy my remaining bottles over the next five years, when I imagine this will be at its best. Bottle #6596.
July 2, 2021 - Gotta admit, I grabbed this from my Italian cellar off a shelf which wasn’t reserved for “the real good stuff” without even looking. Was so blown away!
Dark, opaque red. Nose is rich but not outspoken. Lush mouth-feel. Spice, dried dark fruits: fig, plum. Finish that was so inviting I was excited to go back.
We’ll worth the drink!
June 3, 2021 - Still vibrant and with rich fruit.
Lovely!
Drank (the whole bottle!) with olives, pizza and chocolate. Great with all! On a Wednesday night!
Sorry it was my last bottle.
May 9, 2020 - Wow. I am not used to Umbrian red wine. This is better than expected. Ready to drink now and may improve in a couple years. Good acidity with blueberry, plum, olive. Easy drinking but complex at the same time
July 22, 2019 - Medium ruby color. Nose of spiced plum and nut oil. Full bodied on the palate and juicy with a long finish of sweet tobacco.
March 4, 2018 - Damn...another bottle corked! Boooooo...
March 3, 2018 - Horribly corked...what a pity.
December 30, 2017 - Decanted 1 hour. Tart black cherry, aged red/purple fruit, earth & wood, spice embedded. Rich, but not heavy, tannic, on finish. I'd let it age another couple of years at least if I had another to do over. Was quite good with Osso Bucco.
April 7, 2017 - Really hitting all the right notes today, with a perfect balance of grape and place. Medium>Medium+ body, good acidity, layers of savory red and black fruit with a distinct forest element that was just lovely. Drink now with an hour in decanter, or continue to hold, though structure suggests the next few years may be the best. recommended+
