November 5, 2023 - Finished the evening with this and didn’t take any notes but was drinking really well. I don’t have much experience with aged Sauternes but it seemed like it had quite a bit of life ahead of it. Good acidity to keep it lifted and balance the sweetness. Went well with foie gras torchon as you would imagine.

September 29, 2023 - Guiraud's can get very dark in colour, at young age, and exhibit marmalade and burnt toffee character , too early for my liking . The 86 , however was drinking signifcantly younger than its age would suggest. Some Cumquat, just a hint of marmalade, ripe quince, stone fruit good acidity, and botrytis , but not overtly sweet, but to me a positive. The freshness was really appealing , considering its age . Ticking lots of boxes .

May 29, 2023 - Last noted 12/16 though I've enjoyed several bottles between then and now with consistently excellent notes. 750ml bottle this time.

Color/App: lovely, seemingly glowing medium gold with high viscosity. Once again, tremendously youthful appearance for an '86 and for 37 year-old Sauternes, in general. Faboulous bouquet of coconut, spiced peach jam, vanilla bean, honeysuckle, mandarin orange and brown-sugar butter. Youthful palate of caramel, creme brulee, orange, peach and plenty of botrytis. Great midpalate and balance and concentration. Finishes long with perfect acidity. I'd say the only real change I've noticed over the last decade or so is a slight lightening of the liquorous texture from what it used to have. Still young and lovely and plenty of life; enjoy over the next decade +. Top tier among '86 Sauternes.
