Community Tasting Notes 20

June 21, 2018 - Each of these last ones has been different. This one tasted old, older than it should: fruit muted, soft body, tannins fully resolved. With the black fruit in the background, strongly savory elements dominated: blood and iron, earth, pepper, a little barnyard. Very flavorful, sort of essence of bullring dirt. The last one I had was all fruit and tannin, and not much else; this was all else.

On re-taste, I think it may have been mildly corked, which might explain the loss of fruit. I have edited to mark as flawed.

December 20, 2017 - Not as interesting as the last one I had. Rich black fruits and black pepper spice predominated. The texture was lush, with a yet strong tannic structure. Still very good.

October 7, 2016 - Savory and delicious. At first opening, a strong nose of tar, meat and cracked pepper. With some air, sweet black fruit came through, although the savory elements remained. Dense texture and a strong tannic backbone, yet somehow smooth with a lingering finish. Really interesting; a French syrah with a definite southern accent.

July 9, 2014 - This wine is still drinking well with ample fruit and long easy tannins. I'm out, but if I still had some, I would drink up over the next three years.

February 24, 2014 - This bottle back to being too big and overripe; Interesting nature of bottle variation
