March 5, 2022 - Académie des Cinquante Claret Tasting (Restaurant Rijsel, Amsterdam, NL): Tasted blind. Magnum. Relatively light in style, vegetal nose, aromas are mature and fully developed, retains its freshness and tannic grip. Not really harmonious or elegant. Difficult.

April 27, 2017 - this is a surprise. Holding up very well for a much maligned right bank vintage. Showing no signs of decline, this is a medium to full bodied merlot that defies the naysayers. Not terribly complex, but this has just enough old world character to let you know you are drinking BDX. I would expect this to be drinking well over the next 5 years.
November 3, 2016 - Still possessing good fruit & funk. I nice example of Merlot in this torrid vintage.

November 4, 2011 - Très puissant. Fruits rouges, cassis, toasté, un peu de terre, légères notes de café . Tannins encore présents pas totalement fondus avec une bouche un peu sèche. Belle longueur. bonne bouteille mais sans magie
March 4, 2011 - Decanted about 30 min starting at about 56 degrees. This is an excellent Saint Emilion in my book. It has a robust and forward nose with darker fruits like plum and cassis. This also has a slightly roasted note to it, not in an overdone, raisiny way, but pleasant and no doubt contributed to by the vintage. Also present is a strong earth and mineral component placing it firmly in Bordeaux. Small amount of baking spice on the nose hinting at the oak, but it is well-integrated. This mineral and earth keeps the roasted component in the nose in check and it ends up being balanced and very pleasant. On the palate, this is well balanced, though there is are some rough edges to the tannins. The fruit is round and layered, but not overly deep, with the mineral component that supports it very well. It is true to form St. Emilion in flavor. This is fairly classic to my palate, but I can see the modernism creeping in a little bit - or perhaps it is just the vintage character. Nice smooth finish that resonated well. This was a very good bottle of wine and my QPR of the year so far at $15.
January 28, 2011 - very big, but very delicious, drinking well right now.
