September 26, 2019 - Opened this earlier than usual but pleasantly surprised how approachable this is now. Obviously has much more life ahead but drinking well now especially for those who like their wine younger. Dark Garnet in color, aroma of spices, cherry, plum, and herbs. Med+ acidity and alcohol is slightly evident. Med body. Classic Sta Rita Hills Pinot and starting to evolve from bright cherry to a bit of herbs/spices and ripe berries. Might try the next bottle in 2-3 years. Stopped buying SS in bulk a few years back wouldn’t hesitate to pick some up after tasting this bottle.

August 26, 2019 - This was a 92... then a 93 with food. The neutral vote is based on this.

July 22, 2019 - Quite possibly the crown jewel of Sta. Rita Hills Pinot. Initially tightly coiled, and almost muted on the palate, it needed three hours to come around. Earthy, savory, and umami-inflected notes of black raspberries, violets, tamarind candy, and spices show obvious structure and complexity. After 90 minutes tomato leaf, eucalyptus, and herbes de Provence round out the aromas. The fruit eventually takes over, gaining breadth and depth, and expanding across the palate on a smooth wave of candied restraint and harmonious balance. This was excellent.

July 6, 2019 - Early in its drunk window, this wine shows a freshness, ripeness and high level of acidity beneath a black cherry and rhubarb fragrance and palate. Would love to try another bottle in next 2-3 years.

June 30, 2019 - Decanted for about 90 minutes prior to tasting. Interesting transformation. Still retains some of the smokiness/earthiness I associate with Sta. Rita Hills Pinot but also develops an elegance and a layer of cola not apparent before. Air also significantly softened the acidity resulting in a lovely tasting experience. Plenty of sour cherry on the palate but strawberry and red raspberry begin to show as well. Think I will wait a little longer before tasting the next bottle to identify further evolution.
