March 18, 2021 - Dark plum, very smooth tannins on the finish. It kept very well.

July 6, 2020 - Color was deep dark red. As we were outside drinking this bottle in 90 degree heat the nose was subdued. (Who wouldn’t be subdued in 90 degree humid heat in Wisconsin) As KayeCheg stated rich with dark fruit. Wine was mouth coating but with an average length finish that kept it from scoring higher. A great bottle for a pizza party. Dave

April 26, 2019 - Continues to get better! Notes are similar to tasting last August, but the wine continues to become even more balanced. This time we did get more of the earthiness, which suggests that the wines that are tasted alongside any wine can definitely affect one's perception of that wine. The accompanying wines tonight were a 2015 Terry Hoage "Skins" grenache (which was the WOTN!) and a 2014 Bedrock Papera. Both of those were lighter - less earthy, smoky - than the "Toasted Slope."

August 17, 2018 - I have always preferred the brighter flavors in this sun-soaked wine when compared to Alta Colina's "Old 900" syrah. It is so interesting to read other CTer's notes on this wine. We had this wine along with the 2015 vintage of this wine alongside the 2015 "Old 900" and the 2012 "Old 900." [Yeah... It was a great evening!!] Given the opportunity to compare these four wines side by side, this one - the 2012 "Toasted Slope" - was my favorite! I did not get the "darker fruits and the smokiness" that some CTers mention. But I wonder if that is because it was alongside the "Old 900s" which definitely had a wonderful smoky component. What I did get was a very well balanced wine with great red, tending towards purple, fruit flavors. It doesn't smack you in the face. It says, "Sit back; take your time; enjoy." Really nice!
