January 2, 2009 - Hmmm, this one surprised me, as I expected a superstar...opened on NY Eve as a special taster, but wasn't wow'd, neither were the other tasters...is this closed down? Decanted and left open for 4 hrs prior, but never rose to the occasion. I think I'll stick with the regular bottling for the short term...

August 18, 2008 - Terrific Nose. Typical Plums and Black Licorice flavour.Suprisingly, very earthy and restrained. Short finish. Not the huge wine I was expecting, but quite good. 91+

November 16, 2007 - More subtle than the 2005 - the only other vintage of this wine I've had to date - but it's still incredible, just a point or two below that one. Decanted for 45-60 minutes. Like the Kalleske Shirazes the nose is filled with ample dark fruit, mineral, and "the great smell of the sky after it rains" (if that makes any sense). The palate is lush and elegant, not overpowering at all (even @ 15.5% alcohol), and well balanced... lots of dark fruit and mineral. Absolutely delicious
