Community Tasting Notes 11

November 12, 2020 - Really nice nose. Brambly and dark red fruit. The palate was a bit more dried out but still enjoyable.

March 17, 2018 - Decanted for 1.5h. Took an an hour for the wine to start opening up but even then, the aromas are still a bit shy. Some initial barnyard aromas that blew off. Used this wine to test the Gabriel Glas StandardArt to Zalto Universal. In a Zalto, aromas of crushed blackberries and raspberries, hint of bubblegum (my telltale signature of carbonically macerated gamay), eucalyptus and forest floor. Palate is just ripe blackberries, forest floor, bark. Nice weight and very nice acids. Nice long lingering finish with waves of fruit, bark and earth. In Gabriel, aromas are a little less prominent but similar to Zalto. Palate has fruit that's a shade darker, a shade riper, a little more bass, and more earthy notes, and less bright. Mouthfeel is a bit smoother and more dense than the Zalto. Finish is again similar to the Zalto but a little less intense and an interesting ginger flavor that comes on. I definitely prefer the Zalto - the wine is a brighter and more vivid. However, the difference is small and I would be happy to drink with the Gabriel Glas. For scores, 91 in Zalto, 89 in Gabriel Glas StandardArt.

December 13, 2016 - Much better than a previous bottle. Attractive nose with bright, ripe redcurrant, red cherry and forest fruit, alongside some toasty wood, bay leaf and a nice stony mineral note. Slight farmyard, but not distracting. Quite soft on the palate, medium-bodied, ripe with mellow tannin, some dryness from the wood adds structure. Beaujolais in Burgundy style, and well done.

November 27, 2016 - Nice wine and a good showing. Brambly red fruit. Definitely not carbonic, and showing a bit of wood finish (in a good way). I like this style of Beaujolais!

October 27, 2016 - My first bottle of the 2013 vintage. Soooo much more brett than 2011 or 2012 vintages, if that's your thing.
