January 15, 2024 - Pop and pour. Goldish with a slight greenish tint. Nose of stone fruits, mango, vanilla and saline. Meyer lemon, tropical fruit and custard on the palate. Another instance of a great bottle rather than a necessarily great wine. I’ve had eight of these and this was the best by far. Still life in these, but who knows what’s left?

August 28, 2023 - I have been drinking the 2013 and 2014 Porter Bass Chardonnays within the same week lately (not side by side!) and I find the 2013 better. It is interesting to compare these, as the 2013 was quite lean at first release, and the 2014 more approachable but in the long run this has been better for the 2013. The 2014 is a bit softer and blowsier in comparison while the 2013 retains some edge while having filled out over the years.

July 22, 2023 - This is now firing on all cylinders -- good crunchy orchard fruit with crisp acidity and nice round mouthfeel.

January 22, 2023 - Approachable and delicious. Bright, taut, with Meyer lemon, kumquat, and white flowers. This still needs a decant before drinking to give it air, and while very good with our roasted cod, I suspect the piercing sharpness would do well with a fatter dish like chicken or pork.

July 17, 2022 - Outstanding. It’s been kept at 55 degrees since made. Lemon, good acid, golden, mouth coating, long finish. Chablis-like except for a touch more fruit. This is such a beautiful wine in a good place. Did not require much more than a hour of air. No decant. No sediment.

November 18, 2021 - started a touch flabby but quickly firmed up and became a sleek mineral infused drink. lots of seashell here. A ringer for chablis.

October 4, 2021 - This is awesome. Like a middle-aged chablis, this has soft yellow and green fruit, robust minerality, and bit of flint.

September 15, 2021 - Deserted island these are the Chardonnay’s I’m bringing with me. Pale Golden yellow. Aromas of ripe pineapple, stone fruits, straw bales, fresh vanilla bean, and sea breeze. The palate is smooth, not heavy yet not light either. Waves of meyer lemon, zest, tropical fruit and custard. Absolute dynamite wines.

February 15, 2021 - As chablis-like as American chard gets. Crisp, clean, great acidity. Some yeastiness on the palate. No rush on these.

January 20, 2021 - Consistent with previous bottles and perhaps even a touch more layered. Aromas of apple, pear, citrus, marshmallow, a bit of toasty oak and marzipan. Most of that all comes through on the palate with an underlying streak of minerality and crushed rocks. So balanced. Long finish. Spectacular bottle of chardonnay.
