October 8, 2021 - This is on fire. Gorgeous attack of dark fruit, olives, black pepper, and licorice. It is vibrant and tannic. This should age nicely, but there is pleasure to be had now.

April 6, 2020 - Second of a sick-pack and this is somewhat shut down relative to a bottle a few years ago. Great concentration for the appellation and plenty of looming complexity in smoke, game, pepper and meaty black fruit. Just not as integrated and bright as the first bottle. Better in 2-3 years.

November 29, 2019 - So much black pepper. Probably needs another year or two to really come around. This is getting close though...

March 18, 2019 - Consistent with our last tasting 13 months ago. Drinking in a great window right now. Impecible balance and detail. Lavender and beef stew on the nose with deep blueberries, blackberries, and sauvage on the palate. Excellent value and a wonderful treat to drink. Drink now or hold for a few years. Technical score: 93. Enjoyment score: 92.

January 2, 2018 - Opened and decanted 20-min ahead of garlic-pesto chicken pasta and was accessible from the start. Inky black with a ruby/violet hue. Nose is deep and concentrated with waves of lavender, red roses, blackberry pie, tar, smoked brisket, zesty oranges, and forest floor-like garrigue notes. The palate is medium, lush, and supple with high-toned candied cherry and strawberry notes offset against black pepper, plums, blackcurrant, sweet tobacco, beef stock, tar, and subtle notes of cinnamon and nutmeg on the finish, which is velvety and thick. This may be our QPR of the year - outstanding value that exceeds expectations. Very good now in an early window but will likely shut down for a few years before emerging again down the road. Drink now or save until after 2020+. Technical score: 94. Enjoyment score: 93.
