February 17, 2024 - Collectable Wine Night (Tuscany Steakhouse NYC): One of three collectable reds I had with my wine group. Can you be disappointed in a wine you rate 93 points? Yes you can, when it cost over $300 for the bottle and the WA gives it 100 points. Reading the WA review, I always felt that the reviewer felt self-pressure to rate it this high. It is a nice wine, but really no better than many wines that cost under $150. It really paled in comparison to the 2 other reds we had alongside it.

September 11, 2021 - Opened and decanted for 4 hours. The nose is all fruit with hints of chocolate. The palate red & black berry, cherry, plum, tobacco and chocolate. The finish is long. A great wine (94+) but is is really worth more than double the price of a bottle more than the Bard. I do not think so. At the end we drank a toast to Richie, Alan and Mike, three people that I knew who were murdered by blind ignorant hatred 20 years ago We will NEVER forget.

July 4, 2021 - Decanted for five plus hours. No flaw here (from what I can tell) but just not great with overpowering green pepper and metallic note. Almost seemed past prime versus too early. Aside from Dr. Crane I’m not finding much harmony or character in Realm. Paid $300 for this at release and even at that price I’d pass now.

May 27, 2021 - Decant 1 hour to allow to mellow. Very complex, smooth finish.
