October 31, 2020 - Too young. Even with 4 hours in the decanter, it’s still tight and unyielding. But there is potential here. Let’s wait another few years and see how it is in, say, 2024.

May 15, 2020 - Medium to full bodied, big brawny tannins and far from ready to drink, This speaks more of vintage and producer than anything else. Shows a little warmth, just didn’t really hit the spot for me. Not great VfM.

February 5, 2019 - CNY at UE Straits. Poured into decanter. Extremely tight unyielding and shut down the whole night. Only opened up after pouring back into bottle and tasting it again next morning after 8 hours of air.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of toast, coconut, cocoa powder, deep brambly dark red cherries, herbs, soapy floral perfume, deep red roses. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol (14.5%), stolid grippy high tannins, full body. Medium flavour intensity, with flavours of woody spice, deep concentrated dark red cherries, stony earth minerality, hint of leather. Long finish.
Very good quality. Great focus and purposeful thrust of concentrated fruit. Too embryonic now. Lots of oak influence that hasn't integrated in well yet. Power and finesse here. Too modern for my tastes, but I appreciate the effort. Don't touch this for another 6-7 years!
Single vineyard from the commune of Treiso. 6 months in French oak barriques then 24 months in Slavonian oak casks.1 person found this helpful Comment -

May 5, 2018 - Here I found a beautifully layered and irresistible bouquet of crushed cherry and plum, along with fresh roses, dried earth, cedar dust and a hint of mint leaf. On the palate, velvety textures flooded the senses with notes of ripe black cherry, licorice, and balsamic spices, yet somehow the Masseria remained remarkably fresh and lifted as inner floral and sweet herbal tones developed. The finish was long, structured and refined, revealing it’s fine tannins which were otherwise enveloped by the wines massive textures, as hints of dried tart cherry, peach tea, spice and a bitter twang of cedar lingered for well over a minute. What a gorgeous wine this is, showing well today yet also positioned for decades of pleasure.

May 4, 2016 - Not a lot of love. A little inhospitable, pairs well with food, but sour when solitary.
