May 15, 2023 - Inky dark throwing lots of sediment. Nose of dark fruits and some floral (violet v. lavender). More dark fruit on the palate, with tertiary hints of tar and leather. I think this has plenty of life ahead with no rush. 93+

January 28, 2022 - First time with this winery/wine. NR as people I value their opinions realky like this wine And I am coming off COVID where my palate might still be impacted (had wines two days ago I know well and a couple were off from what I would have expected and everyone else was crazy over them).

Decanter in the glass with sips along the way for 4 hours.

This came off as having a nice mouthfeel, some purposeful manipulation (not in a bad way rather trying to make the same wine each year like in the way a Cade would for their non-reseve) Vs a bad way like an Austin Hope/Caymus if that makes sense), black cherry, wood (not in an un-integrated barrel/bitterness just wood), red cherries, fig, and a shorter finish then I would have liked. Structure seemed to be breaking down but not in a limp or flabby way. If I was to rate today I would give it an 88. I saved half for tomorrow and have one more bottle from this vintage to try later this year (plus others).

Also two days ago drank BMF wine but I doubt that has anything to do with it but post COVID I am just not 100%.

    May 22, 2021 - 2nd wine of Jen's vert......same decant.

Nice dark red fruit.....slight drying tannins, seems to be in a slight secondary phase but none of the stewed plums found on many of the other '12s from Napa/Sonoma at this stage/age. A slight sweet, gummy, cedar like fresh cut plywood sawdust. It's actually quite pleasing on the nose. A very nice wine in a very good place for a Cali '12.

May 21, 2021 - Wineapolooza in Atlanta; 5/21/2021-5/23/2021 (My house): The second wine in our Kinsella vertical and my favorite of the three. More fruit than the 2012. Some florals (violets?) and eucalyptus on the nose, fruit flavors of figs and black cherries, rhubarb. Tongue drying tannins but drinking nicely with room to evolve further.

May 21, 2021 - Two hour decant. Very deep ruby magenta color. Fig, black cherry, violet, mint leaf, rhubarb pie, fresh cut plywood, and cinnamon on the nose. Super smooth, tongue drying palate. Soft, velvety tannins on the longish finish. This has aged very nicely.

February 23, 2019 - From a magnum at The Ocean Reef Club. Awesome and fruit forward wine. Clearly Thomas Rivers Brown influence. Blackberry, some sulpher like the flavor of fresh asphalt on the nose and clearly fruit driven.

January 25, 2019 - Pop and pour but took three hours to peak so recommend a decant. Deep, lush 2012 single-vineyard with chewy tannins and purple fruit filling the palate. Tobacco and eucalyptus on the nose. Nice wine.
