November 23, 2022 - Thanksgiving Eve pair off between 2013 Cornell and 2013 Kinsella Jersey Boys.

I had been trying to hold off trying this wine for a few more years (still have one left), but the opportunity to compare Francois with TRB, with some bottle age, and both from different parts of Sonoma, was too great of an experiment to hold off!

I have been recovering from Covid very recently, so I will caveat with the standard smell/taste not being back to 100% (although it is close).

Overall, my fiance preferred Cornell, I preferred Kinsella. I thought the velvety, voluptuous Kinsella offered more upfront dark fruit that I loved. The Cornell was a bit more austere, feminine, a bit more red fruited. It continued to open up as we drank it, indicating it has a lot of life left.

Also decant the Kinsella if drinking now!

May 22, 2021 - Third wine of the vert from Jen's cellar.....decanted for 2-3 hours overall, I think.

Strongest entrant of the three vintages.....darker, stronger blackberry fruit, maybe a little tinge of underipe strawberry on the back end. Good acidic back bone with a finish of black potting soil. Very well balanced and smooth. Nice wine! Thanks for the vert, Jen!

May 21, 2021 - Wineapolooza in Atlanta; 5/21/2021-5/23/2021 (My house): The third in our Kinsella vertical. It was very nice but still quite tannic. Lots of acid and tannin yet still felt medium in weight. Blackberry, under-ripe strawberry and some slight green notes but not in a bad way. I think with some time this could be the best of the three, but for now I prefer the 2012.

May 21, 2021 - Two hour decant. Very deep dark magenta. Blackberry, underripe wild strawberry, powdered sugar, and potting soil on the rich, syrupy nose. Very smooth, very dry palate, with cottony acidity. Firm, low intensity tannins on the long finish. This is at or near it’s peak.

This was part of a terrific vertical supplied by jenmermaidia. Wonderful night of wine.
