January 14, 2020 - Deep ruby color. Aromas of raisins and vanilla. The wine is dry and full bodied. The palate features notes of blackberries, dark cherries, plums, prunes, earth, raisins, spice, clove, and mocha. Alcohol high, tannins medium, acid medium.

November 28, 2019 - Surprisingly fresh. Full-bodied wine with quite ripe dark fruit.

August 2, 2019 - In general, I do not favor cellaring Zinfandel for extended periods, as I prefer the grape's fresh fruit and spice when young. Turley bottlings are enigmatic in this regard, as some can age quite well while others become disjointed as a result of high alcohol and a degree of imbalance that is unsuitable for time in the cellar. This iteration of Turley's Old Vines Zin is impressively age-worthy. Now at the six-year point, it is a deep ruby wine that is amazingly youthful. Packed with dark bramble fruits, black currants, licorice, baking spices, lavender and vanilla, it is a full-bodied red that, despite its ripeness, is remarkably fresh and seamlessly alcoholic (15.5%). Solid in the middle and medium-to-long on the back end, this is a great example of how the blending process can achieve something greater than the sum of its parts. Drink now-2023.

May 31, 2019 - Drinking well now. Might be past its peak though (e.g. complexity, finish).
