    October 20, 2018 - WAIT!!!!!!

This is in no way ready to be opened. Impressively so. Everything going for it if you are a fan of northern rhone syrah but wait. Just wait. at least a couple years. 5 more if you have the patience.

August 21, 2018 - Similar to other bottles - cork shows signs of saturation. Some cracked pepper but not much more.

July 26, 2018 - Three years of additional aging have allowed 2013 Horseshoe Syrah to uncoil, and evolve into a wine that drinks very well, but is still quite embryonic. Rather than being a clenched fist there is great richness and depth, with abundant, youthful aromas and flavors that cover the Syrah spectrum of black fruit, olive, tar, florals and smoked meat. Tannins are ever present, giving ample structure to the fleshy palate impression. Overall balance is right on point to reward many years of beneficial aging. There is a great deal of pleasure to be had right now, but even more promise for the future.

June 29, 2018 - 45 min slow ox. This cork showed wine seeped about halfway up, so not sure how to weigh that in the note. Glorious nose of cracked pepper, cured meat, dark, dark blackberry and blackened toast. A hint of oaky creaminess in the background. On the palate, excellent acidity, creamy black fruit, and loads of chalky tannin on the finish. This btl was fantastic, and definitely looks like it will improve with time.

Day 2: (in the refrigerator overnight). Pretty much identical to yesterday. Stunning.

March 24, 2018 - Backward and difficult to assess, although both the presence of whole clusters and cool climate Syrah are obvious. Perhaps in a dumb phase. I'd sit on any unopened bottles.
