January 31, 2011 - Opened but not decanted about an hour prior to dinner. Consistent with prior note (4/20/08). In a good place right now. No need to rush to drink up, but not getting any better either. I really like this.
February 15, 2010 - This is the oddest pinot that I have ever had. Color was a remarkably dark ruby, by far the darkest of any pinot that I have had. Initially, a rather earthy nose is obvious, but soon diminishes to allow ripe raspberries to flourish. This continues thru about half the bottle, when red cherries become prominent. On the palate, sweet-tart notes , with a nearly syrupy fruit-wine aspect, with raspberries and cherries dominating, which gives this a dessert-wine character. Would have no idea what food to match this with, except for chocolates? I didn't care for the wine, but my wife liked, so I balanced the score to reflect this.
December 22, 2008 - This wine has really taken on a lot of depth since the last bottle. The cork had some wine up the side but it wasn't all the way. The color had a little bit of bricking denoting some age. Alison said it tasted a little little like cigars. Smell is spicy cola. The taste for me is pure cherry silk. This is one of my favorite PN's. I am out but wish I had a case.
November 27, 2008 - Not a typical pinot, but a wonderful fruit forward wine with cherry and strawberry flavors. Nose restrained after one hour decanted. Delicious balance and a long enjoyable finish. Wish I had more.
September 3, 2008 - Bright nose of cherry, vanilla, candied cranberries on a somewhat one diminsional large framed finish. Not your typical pinot.
July 26, 2008 - Way, way too hot. Not recommended
