April 9, 2021 - After an hour decant, I get a nose of leather, BBQ, and some burnt match and the nose changes over time and is quite pronounced. This is a serious old school Bordeaux and the palate is filled with dark red cherry, sweet tart cranberry, acerola cherry, and a dusty bit of cocoa. The tannins are almost fully resolved with a grippiness on the finish which is short but enjoyable. This wine is in or past the window of enjoyment but still showing good right now. There is no reason to hold it any longer so drink up

October 5, 2020 - A decanter absolument. Après la première heure, encore fermé, presque agressif. Puis s’ouvre sur des arômes longs, structurés. Tannins présents mais équilibrés. Le lendemain encore meilleur, délié, arômes fluides. Encore un très grand potentiel de garde.

September 12, 2020 - Since last being tasted 11/7/2015, the 2000 La Garde has buffed some of its rough edges and is now far more drinkable. Deep-to-opaque garnet and loaded with black raspberry liqueur on both the nose and palate, it adds notes of Montmorency cherries, anise, black olives, allspice and loamy earth. Full-bodied and with medium-to-high acidity, its previously-astringent tannins have simmered down a bit. The alcohol (13%) is fully integrated and the wood is likewise well-woven. Solid on the middle palate, it proceeds to a medium-length, borderline acerbic finish. This is heading in the right direction, but it still cannot be described as "charming." If you have the room in your cellar, I would favor giving it more time. That said, there are no guarantees with this particular wine, so consumption anytime throughout this decade seems appropriate. Drink now-2030.

August 23, 2019 - (Decanted for one hour)
Deep red colour with a maturing nose showing leather, cedar wood and liquorice in a very pleasant way. Still showing a nice tannins structure on the palate with fresh fruit and with a very nice bad lengthy finish. This was drinking very nicely right now, but should keep well for another decade.

September 22, 2018 - My reaction is pretty similar to the one directly below. Nice, smoky nose with lots of eathiness, followed by red and black fruit with more smoky notes on the palate. Fully mature, but the fruit still has a bit of freshness. Not a lot of complexity or depth, as mentioned, and the finish isn’t terribly long, but in a good place and pleasant enough. Decant for both sediment and air (needs about 30 minutes).

April 11, 2018 - Not a lot of complexity or depth here. That said, this is a lovely, fully mature, very nice Bordeaux. Dark fruit, good black core, good finish. Tannins are resolved. Very nice, drinking well now and for a few more years to come.

January 19, 2018 - Should have been drunk earlier. Still, quite good as a tablewine. Added to the meal.

May 22, 2017 - Weekly tasting group RWP #258: Bordeaux 2000 (@ VD): In the bouquet green herbs and mint, coffee, soy and sweet licorice. Same on the palate. Good acidity, mild tannin and a medium length. Supple and round and quite mature. Don’t wait too long.

May 13, 2017 - Red colour with some bricking. Nose is mature and complex showing forest floor, violets and cherry morello. Smooth tannins and a soft palate with a nice long finish. This feels ready now and should be best drinking over the next couple of years. Best 2015-2020.
