  This was a tannic primary beast. Not quite like a barrel sample but not far off. Inky, purple/black. Completely closed and sealed up in its tannin and oak straightjacket. Palate is a a wave of dark fruit and then the tannins are vicious basically rendering the wine undrinkable with any pleasure even with food. No Pomerol scent or subtlety here! Needs at least 5 years if not 10 to come around. Wasn’t expecting this!

  April 28, 2022 - Had at the Charlotte Wine & Food fundraiser at the Customshop restaurant in Charlotte. The "baby Petrus". 90-91 right now but with proper maturation and handling this has all the makings to be a 95+ point wine. Very tight, tannic, too young, very intense and fruit forward - still needs at least 3-5 years and will cellar well for 1-2 decades after that with ongoing evolution. If drunk now ideally needs a long decant of at least 2-3 hours. Inky black, no bricking, powerful fruit and tannic core with some complexity already evident and a very long lingering aftertaste. Nose tight and intense with dark fruit, red cherry and a floral note of lilac. Flavors of oak, dark stone fruit and strawberry up front with coffee, raspberry, smokey tobacco and a greener more vegetal note on the end. Definitely hold not drink.

  February 26, 2022 - Enjoyed quite a bit. Corkage at a restaurant. Very lovely nose of black fruit, plum, tobacco and a subtle herbacousness. Palate was reflective of the nose with the same fruit, tobacco and savory. Tannins were present and became more pronounced as it was opened. Medium bodied. I don't drink a ton of right bank but I certainly enjoyed this as did the rest of the table.

  October 15, 2021 - the nose explodes with raspberry, strawberry and maraschino cherry. If you sniff long enough, green pepper, rosemary and mint will appear. The tannins are cutting, the wine is full bodied and the finish long. The fruit does not emerge in the palate, leaving way to hints of cacao, earth, preserved raspberries. Strange but beautiful combination of flavors. I will open my next bottle in 2024.
