September 24, 2019 - I find this a remarkably consistent wine. A wild, feral style of Pomerol with blueberry and blackberry fruit, mineral, ash, and fur. Surprisingly enough, I don’t find this terribly different between 750 and 3L formats.

September 9, 2019 - Dinner at Pizzeria Bebu (Chicago, IL): This was a lovely bottle; a very mild hint of brett that got more intense as the wine got more air. But at the beginning, that mild brett certainly added more than it took away. There's a peppery leafiness at first, but it supplements a lovely array of matured stone fruit. On the palate, you can still pick up some of the brett, but also a good amount of brown spice and some of the plummy sweetness. Not a bottle I would kick away anytime, and while others didn't think the gap as large as I did, I far preferred the 1982 Magdelaine.

August 24, 2019 - This is a wine I love and yet again, it doesn't disappoint. Blackberry, black plum with a slightly animal fur, feral nature and lots of mineral and Perigord truffle. A love how wild this 82 CdM always seems to be. Untamed.

July 7, 2019 - Enjoyed as part of a 1982 horizontal Bordeaux tasting:

Top shoulder fill, fully saturated cork (only able to remove half), and a good amount of sediment in the bottle. I couldn't detect anything specific on the nose, but it had a heavenly earthy sense about it. On the tongue it delivered the epitome of a great claret. Refined and elegant, it showed hints of fresh cherries, dark chocolate, and dark dried fruits. It was absolutely silky and delicious. This stole the show after a 2hr decant. Definitely in its apogee.

    WOTN!!!

June 20, 2019 - With an hour of air, the typically wild, assertive bouquet of the 1982 Certan-de-May is in full force with a rich, intense nose of black plum, Perigord truffle, mineral, smoke, and leather. Not exactly plush or polished, but that's not to fault the wine - it's edgy and aggressive; you can't possibly look the other way. I expect this will go for years as this is on the structured side for 82 Pomerol.

(Certan de May) This was a very nice wine albeit a but predictable. Good balance, nice concetration, and everything in perfect balance but for me lacked a certain excitement. Many others will probably freak out about a wine like this but I thought it was rather uninispiring. Chocolate, vivid plum/dark cherry fruit with lots of glycerin and some aged flavors. Not as opulent as something like Lafleuer or Fleur de Gay. Nice finish that pumped out some nice fruit. I don't know. Just didn't work for me tonight.
