  May 3, 2015 - Tasted May 2015. Bought Tesco's, approx £9.00.
  
  Winemaker is Tamra Kelly-Washington at the Yealands Estate, using Awatere Valley fruit, just south of Marlborough (Wairau plains) proper.
  
  Lovely New Zealand Pinot Grigio. (Dun'no why Tesco label it Pinot Grigio, and not Pinot Gris; they're the same grape, doesn't matter either way.) Liked it very much. A good straw colour. On the nose it's all peaches, white stone fruit, honey, white melon, not intense but charming all the same. In the mouth it is slightly fuller body beyond medium, heaps of ripe fruit (apples, pears, passion fruit) and honey, it has lively acidity - still - and finishes with a refreshing crispness after all that middle-palate fruit. It's a simple, straight forward, well-made 'does what it says on the tin' wine, doesn't have the intensity and elegance/complex almond flavours of, say, a Mt Difficulty Pinot Gris but neither does it have Mt Difficulty's £18 price tag. If I owned a 2nd bottle I wouldn't keep it much longer; it's delicious now and ain't gunna get massively better.
  
  Value-for-Money? Certainly. A well-made flavoursome Pinot Grigio for around £9.00 you can drink all night on it's own (it doesn't scream 'Food now!'). Almost a bargain.
