Community Tasting Notes 4

April 25, 2018 - The geat tasting notes below that give one a pretty good sense of this wine. My take is light to medium bodied with a pleasant strawberry cherry core. It does perhaps lack a bit of acid and it is perhaps just a tad alcohol forward. But this is a very easy going enjoyable wine that will complement all sorts of foods. I've really come to appreciate lighter style reds and this is a great example why. Happy to have a few more bottles and no sense of these going downhill anytime soon.

June 8, 2016 - Vibrant ruby in colour with garnet edge.
Heady nose of ripe strawberry and shortbread biscuit. Lots of sweet red fruit and gentle tannins. A luxurious indulgence once in a while; a bit more acid would be needed for repeated enjoyment. Full of the heat of the Mezzogiorno.
    ABV 13.5%....Rounded down, I'd say, from 13.9!

March 13, 2016 - Clear, medium (+) ruby in color, with garnet hues on the rim. The nose is clean, medium (+) to intense, with aromas of ripe red cherries, anise, star fruit, and field herbs. The nose is complex and developing. The palate is dry, but with lots of sweet red fruit. The acidity is medium and the tannins are medium to medium (+). The alcohol seems hotter than the stated 13.5%. It is drinking well now, with food, but it still seems a little young. This vintage does not seem to be as age-worthy as the 2012, but it is nevertheless mighty tasty and a great value.

September 22, 2015 - Birthday/Aglianico, 58 Port, ++ (My home): Ruby in color. The nose has xmas spice, celery and black cherries. On the palate, this has a nice soft complexity to it that I liked among the other tannic wines. Black cherries and tobacco, it had a Cab Franc quality to it. Despite its youth, it seemed ready to drink now. I thought someone said, this is available under $20, so great value.
