October 20, 2023 - Nice but lacking a bit of wow factor. Not overly complex and possibly a little too soft?
July 22, 2023 - Classic Oz blend of Shiraz and cabernet. The Shiraz fills the hole that cabernet has right in the middle. Cork held up well, drinking beautifully now. Plenty of time left, no need to rush this one. Tannins well integrated after 11 years, dusty leathery characters with great length. Perfect on a winters evening.
November 3, 2021 - NobleRottersSydney - Barossa Old Vine (Fix, St James, Sydney): {cork, 14.4%} [Greg] Fine-looking cork, extracted at table. Far and away the most savoury of the reds tonight. Dusty, leathery, spicy nose, developing in character. Ticks all the medium boxes for weight, acid, chalky tannin, and indeed length of finish. The oak is subtly grainy, and spiced plum with currant fruit is most present on the evolving palate. This is fairly ready now, but will hold a while. The most old-world of the table wines here tonight, and it’s the quintessential Oz blend!
August 5, 2021 - Drinking really well with scotch fillet.
May 15, 2021 - Drinking nicely, secondary characters starting to show, long balanced finish, a little Christmas cake in there as well
September 1, 2020 - Just really good drinking with nice rich fruit, soft tanins, and good length. Great balance between the Shiraz (black currant, chocolate) and Cabernet (grassy, herbaceous notes).
May 30, 2020 - Stunning. Lots of life left
September 13, 2019 - Wonderful pairing with Italian food, great structure and very smooth
October 13, 2018 - Nice complexity and length. I think there might be better options at this price point though.
May 15, 2017 - Raspberry, dark choc, nice sweet fruit and good oak work, drying savoury tannin
