July 11, 2023 - There was only 12 bottle of allocation of this beauty in Japan. Lucky to try it at Alter Ego Tokyo. The nose reminded me of Bruno Giacosa’s Barolo with red fruit, rose petals, tar, dried flowers and vitamins. It unleashed round and alluring red fruit on the palate in a feminine and harmonious manner. Even after many glasses of different lovely Nebbiolo, this Barolo had the unrivaled regalness among the wine tonight. 93+

October 26, 2022 - Ordered at a restaurant, no formal notes. Very pretty on the nose with classic Nebbiolo character, quite a bit of floral notes and cherries. There was a bit of heat noticeable on the nose and more so on the palate. In general, the palate did not quite match the lovely nose, but it was a very solid wine nonetheless.

June 7, 2022 - A remarkably strange and idiosyncratic wine. Ultra-low production, rare and strange wine. On the one hand thick and soupy, on the other bitter and rustic. Uncompromising and "personal". To be applauded!

June 7, 2022 - Impromtu 2011 Barolos (Terra Rossa, Islington): Opulent and rich, a juicy burst of fruit supported by strong tannins. This is a wine that has a strong following and I can see why that would be (who doesn't love a label hand-written by a guy in his garage?), but whilst it was undeniably delicious I felt it was a little confected and in-your-face versus what I am after in wine (and that is probably the point - per one of my fellow drinkers this evening this is what the winemaker makes and likes to make, and if you don't like it then you can get stuffed*). Too hedonistic for my tastes.

    * or something akin to that...

June 7, 2022 - 2011 Barolo* (Terra Rossa): 15% and you could smell that on the nose, which was otherwise interesting and attractive - a hint of natural rusticity, some V.A., bitter almonds, bright and herbal. Lots of black cherry on the palate, which was both broad and deep and had a hidden core of tannin and a long, juicy, bitter finish. As with the 2010, I liked this, but I didn't love it as others do.
