March 17, 2021 - Bottle 2 of 6. Another bad undrinkable wine. 95 pts from critic back in the day???
July 11, 2020 - Brille peu. Trop tard!
January 2, 2019 - P & P. Just a great wine to drink with all kinds of food, and quite nice on its own. Medium-bodied, with bright firm fruit, juts enough tannins to add interest to the mouthfeel. Very good QPR.
November 19, 2018 - bad bottle or bad wine?
May 26, 2018 - Bretty and sherried. Possibly heat damaged?
April 18, 2018 - Medium body, very bright and fresh tasting, with red fruits dominating; a very slight chalkiness adds interest and texture. A good QPR, and it paired well with grilled salmon and roasted vegetables.
October 8, 2017 - This has come around very nicely in the last year. A bright Sicilian with complex coffee and tart cherry notes. Savory and lean but juicy and flavorful. Nice on its own, even better with food. Very good QPR at <$25. Drink or hold.
July 8, 2016 - Two bottles over two days with family; I only drank from one. Recognizably Sicilian, with undertones of licorice and bark that add interest to the red and black cherry flavors, but the wine at this state is not exactly in my wheelhouse. Sicily's only DOCG wine, Cerasuolo di Vittoria consists of 30-50% Frappato and 50-70% Nero d'Avola; the Frappato lends some Sangiovese-like character, making this wine taste (to me) a little more northerly than I would normally associate with Sicilian reds. Good to drink now, but perhaps another year or two sideways will align its flavors with my tastes.
