May 18, 2018 - A private tasting and dinner at a friend's (London, UK): Mature and smoky style, vinous and warm, black olive, red meat, medium weight, more about velvety tannins than about acidity at this stage, good length. Fully mature.

December 24, 2017 - This initially showed exactly what I want in a bottle of Hermitage, with its black fruit, meat, and smoke, but as this got more and more air, the TCA got more and more prominent.

August 26, 2017 - Tasted blind. This had tons of VA and acetone notes. Loads of black olive tapenade, huge acidity but not much else. Weird.

March 11, 2017 - A lazy saturday afternoon (Eric&Megan's, Chicago IL): Nose: The nose is immensely perfumed and rustic that is filled with bacon fat, black fruits, leather tones, earth notes, white pepper, violets, and black cherries. There is a lot of depth with the nose showing a real savoriness to it as well.

Taste: Medium/full bodied with medium+ acidity and medium+ tannins. The structure is starting to resolve, but it still shows off a bit of youth. The feel is refined and deep with bacon fat, black fruits, earth tones, white pepper, violets, and black cherries.

Overall: This is a wine that thrills every single time I have it. This bottle is no different than what I've had in the past. A truly special Hermitage that also makes one sad that it isn't made anymore.

March 11, 2017 - Given the bottle variation I've experienced with this wine, I was quite pleased that this was sound; With a couple hours of air, this really blossomed, with intense aromatics of olives, dark fruits, pepper and a touch of brett; The palate is still quite firm, but well-delineated with lots of Northern Rhone typicity; Drinking quite well now but in no danger of going downhill
