  February 25, 2021 - After a first positive experience with another of this producer’s cuvées, we decided to try this Special Club; we’re quite enthusiastic about 100% meunier wines, and this one is especially interesting, given that it’s one of two 100% meunier Special Clubs that exist. The mature vintage was noticeable from the opening: so much ripe fruit, such as ripe apples and pears, cranberries, raspberries, and red forest fruits in general; these were accompanied by characteristic ripe meunier notes of smoke and metallics, along with roasted meat, some Sherry wine, and deep spices such as clove, black and white pepper, and ginger, with sea salt; with more air, it showed some warm milk, walnuts, freshly baked bread and cookies, along with honey and white chocolate.
  What a pleasure to drink. We really enjoyed this bottle, and the producer in general has been a real surprise for us. This is a strong example of an aged meunier, and it really highlights the potential of this variety. Sapid on the palate with such density, it maintains a notable acidity, although it’s definitely read to drink, and probably at its peak right now. One word: delicious.

  May 17, 2020 - Opened by Mark. This Marne Valley producer is located in Festigny and has been making their own Champagne since 1932. Festigny is an area known for Pinot Meunier. When this was released, it was one of only two 100% Pinot Meunier Special Clubs (Mousse being the other). Since then Salmon also released a 100% Meunier SC. 2009 is the first Special Club vintage bottled by the estate. 3rd time I have had this with similar notes. This has put on some weight since I last had it and it is getting more doughy with age. Notes of peaches, brioche and almonds. Solid bead with a medium body. This should continue to drink well for at least another 5 years. 92 points.

  100% ren Pinot Meunier, og kun 1 av 2 som lager ren Meunier Special Club.
  De ble med i klubben i 2008 og dette er deres første årgang.
  Dette er dog ikke noen nykommere, da familien har dyrket vin i Festigny siden 1852.
  
  Flott på duft med begynnende modning, god intensitet og fin dybde.
  Røde modne epler, søte plommer, stein og autolysekarakter.
  Ganske mørk i karakter - et streif av blomster tilfører eleganse.
  Annerledes og kul nese.
  Rik munnfølelse og herlig mousse.
  Konsentrert og voluminøs frukt med fin friskhet og god modning.
  Blandet med en sitrende mineralitet funker dette meget bra.
  Holder kurven godt.
  Strammer seg opp i utgangen og ettersmaken sitter lenge.
  Nydelig etterspill av syre og mineralitet.
  Når det roer seg kjenner man smaken av eplekjernehus og en touch honning.
  Jeg digget denne!
  Drikker bra nå - kan i tillegg ligge lenger. 92p

  May 19, 2018 - Opened by Mark. 2nd time I have had this. Light yellow color. Rounder and more serious than when I last had this. Tart green apple, peach stone and dough notes. 92 points.
