January 27, 2024 - Early sample. Quite fresh, focus, not a lot of depth. Beautiful color.

    January 27, 2024 - Bright salmon pink
    Ripe light strawberry
Nice acidity, but finishes sort of one note.

June 28, 2020 - The color is remarkable: bright stransparent ruby. Looks more like a light red wine than a Rose wine. The palate is distinctive: cotton candy with cinnamon at first, but also Ranier cherries, strawberries, raspberries, cola, garrigue, and burnt orange peel on the finish. At points it reminded me of a whiskey cocktail—something like an Old fashioned. I enjoyed it very much, but in the back of my mind, I couldn’t help but wonder if I would have found a $15 Lambrusco to be just as good and if I woul have felt so positively about this wine if I had been told this was a $15 Lambrusco instead of a $50 Rose from Palette? I will say that it got quite a bit better with air—it continued to gain complexity for a solid two or three hours, so the decanting time really helps and I suspect some additional bottle age would have helped too. Many people on CT say that the 2014 was an off vintage for this wine. It’s my first taste of the wine and I’m intrigued enough that I would like to try more and see what the wine tastes like with extended aeration, futher agining, and a different vintage. Good match with Pork chops marinated in teriyaki with Gateway to the North Seasoning.

August 24, 2019 - improved tremendously since i tasted it 2 years ago. nose open for business with beguiling garrigue to go with nice berry and mineral notes. body is rounded out, medium weight, and medium acidity. well balanced and easy to drink. deep flavors with strawberry, raspberry, flint, cinnamon, and dried herb. long finish. should still improve with another 2-3 years.

April 14, 2018 - Very tricky. Slight strawberry nose. Colour of a pale red Burgundy. Wonderful fruity flavours: strawberry, raspberry and rhubarb - with a little of the tannin of the latter. Slightly spicy notes of cinnamon, maybe some sage. But almost fatally undermined by the fizzy side, commented upon by others; a second fermentation - maybe bottled too soon? So I am stuck between thinking this is a lovely complex rosé vs. thinking it is a framboise kir royale or a Lambrusco. Challenging!

July 16, 2017 - Third bottle I've opened, and third that had undergone some refermentation in bottle. Quite reduced, some petillance, and muted aromas. Strawberry, floral. Much better on the second night after the off aromas had blown off, but still hot (14% on the label but wouldn't be shocked were it really 14.5.) I'm a huge fan of Simone in all its forms but this fell short of what I expect from their usually excellent rosé.

May 6, 2017 - brilliant rhubarb color. not much of a nose but there's a little sweet red fruit. plate medium bodied, subtlety acidic, and very well refined and balanced. broad range of red berry flavors, dry cinnamon stick, mineral, and sweet sage. faint dry tannins and a medium length finish. well made but a bit reticent on the nose and weighty for me as a rose. could get better with time.

day 3 update- strawberry and some cotton candy coming out on the nose, which is finally giving something. palate a bit more savory and herbal notes more prominent. good length. better. this would be one to cellar.

March 5, 2017 - 14% alcohol. Decanted. First bottle corked. This is a strange wine, and I've grappled with how to describe it. It doesn't have any punch. It has more in common with Burgundy than Provence. Its value is insertion to a blind tasting. Bordeaux bottle, Pinot qualities; let's see all the hot dog new Somms figure this one out. Grudgingly, I'll give it some props. The wine has balance and an understated elegance. There are flavors of cinnamon and red raspberry. Nice lingering finish. Jane shakes her head after a sip, but I'm more opened minded. Like any wine, I want to like it. I enjoy being challenged, but this is a stiff opponent. The comparison that comes to mind is a Sine Qua Non Rose. I'll let you be the judge as to whether or not that is a compliment. NR

July 19, 2016 - Clear red color; nice taste with richness, quite some body compared to "normal" rose; some prickliness which does not do it favour; ok
